2011 was yet another challenging year for SYPD. The worst droughts in Somalia for over 50 years have threatened the lives of millions of people already ravaged by a twenty-year old conflict.
Fortunately, with the support of our diverse network of supporters and the resilience of the people we serve, our teams saved countless lives by quickly providing temporary shelter, food and save drinking water while taking aggressive measures to prevent disease outbreaks by improving communities hygiene and sanitation levels. Not only that, but SYPD projects in 2011 have also created hundreds of temporary job opportunities to inject cash into the pockets of vulnerable communities uprooted by droughts. This annual report will provide a snapshot of these projects.
