A General Assembly is the highest decision making body that meets once every two years. All members at large participate in that meeting to elect board members and the management staff.

A Board of Directors represent the second level of organizational hierarchy in decision making. A Management Staff is responsible for implementing day to day activities based on the policies and guidelines being set by the GA.

SYPD has an increasing number of members from the different categories of the Somali youth. This paves the way for an inclusive Somali youth parliament with representatives from differing Somali regions. In all its activities and programs, a 50% gender balance is maintained.
