ABOUT US

Headquartered in Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia, the Somali Youth for Peace and Democracy (SYPD) is a non-profit, non- partisan, non-governmental, youth led organization founded in August 2004 by a group of Somali youth activists. SYPD was formed specifically to build strategic networks of young, social change leaders, development practitioners, and key decision-makers.

The goal of SYPD is to create an atmosphere in which Somali youth can express their voices, involve in the process of peace building, and reconciliation and in political decision- making procedures that affect their future.

SYPD is committed to establish youth empowerment programs that are dedicated to social change and struggles to harness Somali youth energy and passion to build a democracy oriented society that promotes positive values such as; peace, democracy, equality, good governance and justice.
